The crown of Life is like the victory wreath given to winning athletes. God's crown of life is not glory and honor on earth, rather the final reward of eternal life - living with God forever. He is saying the way to achieve this crown is to stay faithful even under pressure.
I had James Chapter 1 memorized for nearly 5 years when Andrea went through her brain surgery in 2001, the words were formost in my mind when Derrick & Laura gave birth to May, their first baby girl at 20 weeks, and I was greatly comforted by the words as Bradley & Amie persevered in heartache trying to have a child. It is HARD to keep your eyes fixed on God when your own heart is aching, but by the power of the Holy Spirit we are able to do so.
