Acts 12:11-15

11Then Peter came to himself and said, "Now I know without a doubt that the Lord sent his angel and rescued me from Herod's clutches and from everything the Jewish people were anticipating."

12When this had dawned on him, he went to the house of Mary the mother of John, also called Mark, where many people had gathered and were praying.

13Peter knocked at the outer entrance, and a servant girl named Rhoda came to answer the door.

14When she recognized Peter's voice, she was so overjoyed she ran back without opening it and exclaimed, "Peter is at the door!"

15"You're out of your mind," they told her. When she kept insisting that it was so, they said, "It must be his angel."

Freed From Prison
Which Way Do I Go????
Without any instructions from the angel who freed Peter, he decides on a plan of action. First he would inform the brethern that he was free, then he would find a hiding place.

Peter had evidently spent much time in the house of Mary for 2 reasons; first his relationship with John Mark and second the servant girl recognized his voice. He knew he could find fellow believers there even in the middle of the night.

Trying to be quiet and keep out of sight of any of Herod's guards, he knocked at the door gate and when Rhoda heard it was Peter she just ran to tell others without opening the door. How funny is that!!! Getting out of prison was easier for Peter than getting into the prayer meeting! Still they could not believe Rhoda's words. They were praying to God (we do not know exactly what for, but certainly Peter's release must have been included!) and could not believe he truely was standing outside the gate!!!
