James 5:12

"ABOVE all, my sisters,

do not swear -

not by heaven or by earth

or by anything else.

Let your 'Yes' be yes,

and your 'No,' be no,

or you will be condemned."

In Matthew 5:36 I read

"anything beyond a simple 'yes or no'

answer comes from the evil one."

Todays Thought

James was referring to using God's

name in vain. As solomn oath in a court

of law or in an important matter is one thing,

however a flippant use of God's name

is from the evil one.

Be careful with the words that cross your tongue,

it is refection of what is on the inside.
