Micah 1

Micah & Isaiah lived at the same time and knew each other. The message was written mainly toward the people of Judah, but also some words to Israel. In writing the words the Lord conveyed to him, Micah used classical Hebrew poetry to warn God's people that judgment IS coming and He will offer pardon to ALL who repent. These 7 chapters catch a glimpse of God's anger in action as He judges & punishes sin. And we see God's love in action as He offers eternal life to all who repent & believe.

v. 2-5"Hear, O peoples, all of you,
listen, O earth and all who are in it,
that the Sovereign Lord may witness against you,
the Lord from his holy temple.

Look! The Lord is coming from his dwelling place;
he comes down and treads the high places of the earth.
The mountains melt beneath him
and the valleys split apart,
like wax before the fire,
like water rushing down a slope.
All this is because of Jacob's transgression,
because of the sins of the house of Israel.

v.16 Shave your heads in mourning
for the children in whom you delight;
make yourselves as bald as the vulture,
for they will go from you into exile."

HEAR ALL OF YOU
The message has not changed
from the beginning of times till this very day.
There is punishment /discipline for choosing sin.
But........ we all say that doesn't apply to me today. I
go to church and I am a good person.
As I study "idol worship" in this generation,
it scares me how much we have in common
with Judah & Israel.
We don't have a golden calf,
but we do have High Definition TV.
Think about what you love to do MOST.
Is spending time with God as enjoyable as going shopping,
going to a sports game, going to work,
taking care of your possessions,
or even being wrapped up with your children?????
