The theme of this book, written by Malachi (which means My Messenger) was to restore the Jews during a time when they lost hope, their worship was warm and they no longer took the law seriously, they doubted God's covenant love and no longer trusted his justice.

Malachi rebukes the doubt of both priests & people, with a stern announcement that indeed the Lord is Coming! The righteous will rejoice, so prepare yourselves by changing your ways.
