Another warm day in Paris! We woke up early, got to the Metro and were at the Eiffel Tower by 8:30 am, with only the police guards(with their tommy guns strapped to their chest!) By 9 am the thousands of tourist began to appear. There we met our guide to begin our segway tour around the area. Our guide was actually a graduate of UNT, ironically graduated the same year as Bradley!
Anyway, Bill was humorous and informative and very careful about our safety. Yes Rich and I were the old folks on the segways! I wish I could send you the awesome pictures of the monuments, museums, gardens, fountains, and bridges over the river Seine that we took today. The segway made the whole experience very fun and enjoyable. After 4 hours, I only fell off only once, in an odd situation. I was actually proud of myself!
My legs were still screaming from the church steeple climb yesterday, so we decided to take the lift to the top of the Eiffel Tower with the other thousand people. It was not a clear day, but the views were incredible none the less.
We returned to the hotel, had an hour rest and left again for dinner at a side walk cafe. Rich had plain roasted chicken and pomme frittes, and I had a salad and quiche. Rich is actually not starving due to French food! We walked some more, found a great indoor shopping area, came out to the busy streets again and people watched at a side walk cafe with some drinks until the sun went down.
I won't go into details about the rest of the evening, however it is Paris, the city of romance!
Did I mention that we walked18.5 miles today. Yes we CRASHED!
