Freezing in France!!!
Today we were going to go to the French Open, but it rained and play was cancelled! C'est la vie! We had a tour of the Royal Palace at Versaille, but certain employees were on strike, so it was undecided until 11:30 am if we could go. CRAZY Anyway, we did go in the very cold wind & rain to tour the awesome outdoor gardens, fountains and unbelievable grounds of the royalty. They lived in the time period of all the King Louis's. Remember Marie Antoinette? I saw her bed, that was before she was beheaded for offending the Revolutionaries! She really had the good life, but she was rather selfish.
Anyway, we took a van ride 1/2 hour each way and met a young couple who took our pictures every where at the palace, even outside in the gardens for 15 minutes. Did I mention it was freezing. It brought back memories of our trip a few years ago to Vienna.
We paid for an audio-tour of the palace, but the people who would hand us the audio equipment were on strike!!! Lucky us, so we took lots of pretty pictures of who knows what. I did buy a picture book to learn more about it in my free time.
Back to the hotel to put on another layer of clothes and we went back to the streets of Paris to find an indoor cafe for dinner. I love to window shop in the St. Germaine des-Pres area. We walked, talked and got back to the hotel by 9pm to rest up for yet another day of amazing Paris. This city is HUGE!
Funny thing happened this morning. The sun was shining, so we went to a little shopping area for an hour. The sky opened up and it began to pour. Of course we have 3 umbrellas back at the hotel, so we were drenched when we got back. We were not going to buy another umbrella. Then on our tour, Rich's umbrella broke in the wind, so we are down to 2.
Bon Jour
