It is another beautiful day to walk around the city, and our last opportunity to revisit any special spots. So we returned to Mont Montre and walked up at least 300 steps to get to the "artsy" square. The little area is so crowded with people having their portraits sketched and most others standing around watching each artist working. Then other artists were doing their oil sceneries of the area and flowers and other inspirations. Each unique and everything was for sale.
I really wanted to buy something to remember our Paris trip, but honestly there were so many people around that it was hard to think. Rich and I strolled some of the other quiet back streets and he said go buy something if you really want it. So, don't ask me three times! I had it narrowed down to 2 artists quickly. The picture I bought caught the eye of Rich and myself and it was reasonably priced.
The French artist, last name Michigan, was friendly and was proud that I wanted to take his picture, with the oil painting I just purchased. I will long treasure that moment!
My legs were actually quivering from all the upward steps, so we went back for a rest before our carriage ride at 4 pm.
The Eiffel Tower area was a sea of people. We found out that it was a holiday and therefore many more tourist than usual. It was a beautiful afternoon in every way. Rich made me the happiest girl in Paris!!! I have always wanted to go on a romantic carriage ride on one of our vacations, and I was not going by myself! When Rich agreed to go on this one, I told him I would never ask him again. So the memory of that one hour will last for the rest of my life. Thank goodness for many pictures and a few movies. The clip-clopping of the horse's hoofs on the old cobblestone streets made me smile the whole way. People would take our picture and wave and we felt like someone pretty important (in our own mind!)
So after another meal at a sidewalk cafe and now back to the Marriott Rive Gauche, I am doing my final blog from Paris. We will return to Texas with a broken umbrella, broken hair dryer, and broken glasses. BUT, we are filled with many priceless memories and the pictures to prove it!
I almost forgot, we do have a new gold ring too!!!
Auvoir mon ami
