Normandy & Giverny

We began the morning slowly and strolled through the open markets on the street. It was beyond a farmers market because they sold the finest fish and meats, cheese and breads, fruits and vegetables. Honestly it looked superior - compared to Tom Thumb! There was no prepackaging of the products, it was simply wrapped up and put into their carry bag and they would go down the line shopping for their weekly needs.

Then on to have a little something to eat at a sidewalk cafe then back to the hotel to wait for our afternoon tour.

Our tour guide was sweet, but a little scatter-brained. She was Asian from England with a French accent, but she drove safely and gave us interesting facts all along the hour and a half trip to Giverny. The little artist village we were going to see was along the Seine. As you could imagine the land was very green with wide open areas. She took us into many Midevil towns where the streets were very narrow and the villages were deteriorating due to their age from the 13th century.

Our destination was the home of Claude Monet. His home, gardens, museum, and burial place. I think I am going to take some art lessons in my free time. The whole experience was an inspiration to me. Monet was a generous man and it was one of the best tours I have ever been on. If you ever get some time to read about his life, you would take quite an interest in his work. Anyway, I will never look at another Monet painting in the same way again!

On the way back home our guide gave us these interesting facts.
* There are 320 churches in Paris and 85% of the population here is Catholic.
* There is a popular chain store that originated in England and throughout Paris called C&A meaning Cheap & Awful!!!
*The new movie by Tom Hanks, Angels & Demons has lots of pictures of the sites around Paris.

I will leave you today with Psalm 103:19 "He has established his sovereignty, he rules over all the earth." With that in mind, everything works for my good and His glory!"
