Another Day in Pari

After a leisurely breakfast and doing my blog (I do have priorities, even on vacation!) we headed out to the Metro. GREAT, can't find my metro pass. So back up to the room grab it out of the jacket I wore the night before and back down to meet Rich. We arrive at the Metro and I swipe my card and half-heartedly pushed the gate open, but it closed on me! Now I have to go to the attendant and explain in simple French that this dumb American is having trouble! I tell Rich I have mapped out our whole route for the day and get on the train going the wrong direction!!! My patient husband never said a word, all 3 times I blundered. Things happen in 3's my mother says, so I got that out of my system for the day!!!

We got to Notre Dame with the other hundreds of people and quickly filed into THE most impressive church I have ever seen. I took the audio tour while Rich continued to take pictures. The church's ceilings were tall and broad to make way for the spirit of God to dwell within the walls of this magnificent building. The Catholic history blended with the Paris history and the facts are too many to repeat. The one series of large carved panels (7 in all) depicted the appearances of Jesus after his resurrection. We just studied that period of time in the book of John!! God brought to my eyes my most recent study. Not a coincidence!!!

We saw the stained glass windows at St. Chappelle, the flower markets in the area, and the Congierge (where the judicial system is currently operational. We strolled along the Seine, grabbed a sandwich from a sidwalk vendor, and just loved the little back streets of le Cite. This is the very center of Paris, from here the city expanded outward.

Back to the hotel for a rest, then on to the Arc de Triumph for an evening walk. We strolled down the Ave de la Grande Arme to the Palais des Congres of Paris. Then turned back in the other direction and strolled down the Champ Elysees to the Grand & Petite Palace. Along the way we passed many sidewalk cafe's so I couldn't resist a nutella & banana crepe, OH LA LA! (I knew I would walk it off.)

We stood on the Pont Alexandre bridge. This is my favorite bridge because of the lamps, statutes and the most amazing views of the city. We were waiting for the Eiffel tower to begin it's sparkle show at 10pm. Although it was still somewhat light at that time we did see the dazzle of the lights and watched the sun set. We had a memorable evening!
